Who We Are Bar Cake hand crafts a fusion of traditional and contemporary recipes for the catering and fine food retail trade. Our cakes are eaten at a growing number of coffee shops and restaurants, tourist attractions and national events. The belief in each and every cake that leaves our bakery comes with the knowledge that we've packed it full of all the best quality ingredients we can find, sourcing locally wherever possible. We only bake in small batches, as you would at home, and freeze our cakes on the day of baking to lock all the goodness inside. We don't believe in polluting our cakes with artificial flavours, colours or life prolonging preservatives! As the two youngest in a large family we've always stuck together. Our mother taught us to bake at a very young age and we're still as passionate about it today, though our kitchen stays a lot cleaner and we don't fight over scraping the bowl! From the after hours baking sessions in our first coffee shop to a thriving bakery in Bristol, we have retained many original recipes and methods but continue to develop indulgent flavour combinations, we're sure you'll agree! As the business grows we're ever more aware of our potential impact on the environment. We strive to be as green as possible. We promote recycling of our foils and cardboard and use distribution companies to efficiently transport our cakes to their destination. To ensure our cakes get to the people who eat them in the best possible condition please follow these simple Cake Care' recommendations: On delivery cakes should immediately be stored in a freezer. Remove from freezer and immediately: Remove all packaging For pre portioned cakes, run a sharp knife through the incisions to ensure a clean break. For non portioned cakes, use a clean sharp serrated knife to cut. Allow 1-2 hours (depending on conditions) for thawing. Display cakes at room temperature covered by cake domes or in a patisserie fridge. Avoid displaying cakes in direct sunlight or close to sources of heat. If displaying at room temperature by day, cover and refrigerate overnight, to prolong shelf life. Our cakes are free of life preserving additives so shelf life varies from 5 28 days (depending on cake type, storage and display conditions). The Guild of Fine Food`s annual Great Taste Awards are the UK`s largest independent evaluation of fine food and drink. Three separate teams of experts blind taste all the entries, and Bar Cake`s lemon and poppy seed cake; Belgian chocolate, cherry and coconut flapjack and the orange almond chocolate truffle were all awarded the top accolade of the Gold Medal for excellence in taste, texture and flavour.
